A year later Daniel Spill attempted to do the same thing. He called his original company Xylonite. This company also went under. Meanwhile in the US John Hyatt was experimenting with Cellulose nitrate. He was hoping to use the new compound to make Billiard balls.
In 1869 he started the Albany Billiard Ball Company. Finally John and his brother Isaiah had come up with a successful celluloid item. Celluloid was often used in Photography. Photographic Film was made of celluloid. Now you can find Celluloid dolls, pens and other toys. Fountain pens were consistently made of celluloid.
